Serving The Community
Daniel J. Kern, Esq. has served Southern California as a highly reviewed Family Law Attorney for over 20 Years.
Voting for Daniel J. Kern for Judge will help fill an urgent AREA OF NEED on the Orange County Bench.
There are not nearly enough former Family Law Attorneys on the bench serving as Judges in Orange County today. In fact there is very high turnover on the Family Law Panel of Judges because there are not enough Judges in Orange County who have experience serving Family Law clients, and want to be assigned to the Family Law Panel for the long term. This creates what are called "Access to Justice" issues both in terms of the sheer volume of Family Law cases in Orange County, California, and in terms of litigants appearing in Courts where the Judge assigned often has little or NO experience in the area of Family Law. High turnover also contributes to litigants having several different Judges over the course of their case. Electing Daniel J. Kern to the office of Superior Court Judge will help address the personnel shortage in this area of law.
Area of Need
Orange County, California NEEDS more Judges who have experience in Family Law, and other areas. By contrast, we do NOT need more Judges who only have experience as a District Attorney. Orange County has MORE than enough former Prosecutors serving as Judges at this time. Litigants TRUST Judges implicitly in the same way that passengers trust a pilot flying an airplane. It is a failure of our Justice System in Orange County that there are not enough Judges to meet the needs of our community in the area of Family Law. Without personnel who are experienced in Family Law serving as Judges on Family Law Panels, the most important aspects of these recommendations are nearly impossible to implement.

It may be shocking to you to learn that when a litigant goes to Family Law Court, the Judge you appear before VERY LIKELY does NOT have litigation experience in the Area of Law over which they are presiding.
This is not the Judge's fault.
We simply have not Elected or Appointed enough Judges from Areas of Law for which we have MAJOR PERSONNEL SHORTAGES, particularly in Family Law.
By contrast there are MORE than enough former District Attorneys serving as Judges in Orange County right now.
